Whenever you can!

Sunny, windy and dry weather generally prevails from December-April. May-November usually bring favorable breezes with possible showers, normally in the afternoon or evening. Our much over-rated "rainy season" is actually preferred by most long -time Tamarindo residents. It's lush and green and rarely rains all day or for several days at a time. The fact is, we have many days in the "rainy season" with no rain at all.

The best fishing can be in either season, although the traditional time is about mid-April through August. These months offer the shortest run-time, usually good weather and fishing for all species. The dry season demands longer runs to the south (still no more than an hour) to escape the often high winds in front of Tamarindo. This is sometimes considered to be the "marlin and tuna season" although we catch both year-round.

The main tourist season is from Christmas through Easter. Rooms will be a little more difficult to reserve on short notice. The Christmas-New Years week and Easter must be booked well in advance.
